“Steeped in Caerleon's history, this property immediately strikes you as a place of unique character, with roots stretching back to the 12th century. While the grounds and architecture create a serene backdrop, it appears the culinary experience can be inconsistent, despite its emphasis on local ingredients and a Northern Spain-inspired restaurant. With some fine-tuning in the kitchen, the hotel could again provide a truly memorable meal to match its atmosphere.”

The Priory Hotel is often praised for its excellent location near Roman ruins and magnificent walking fields. Guests commonly appreciate the spacious rooms and find the cottages with gardens particularly lovely. While some have noted occasional noise from street-facing rooms above the outside restaurant and kitchen smells from the bathroom window, many highlight the amazing evening meals available in the restaurant, including Spanish-inspired options and tapas.

We had a reservation for 35 people. A room off the main dining room made the event intimate. The food itself was great. The three-course meal cost £22. After the meal, everyone went to the garden and enjoyed the blankets on the lawn.

I stayed in the Single Room and it was super clean! The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were GREAT. Everything was really clean and well kept. I definitely enjoyed having a drink in the garden upon arrival.
An issue with the coffee machine WAS reported, but it was not fixed. A special request for plant based breakfasts was was great, but I was still served meals containing animal products. It had to be returned, much to the OBVIOUS annoyance of the chef on duty.
