Hotel Features
The hotel is a heritage building restored to encompass modern amenities, filled with Asian art and antiques. Cast iron lace work and rows of slatted wooden screens adorn the interior, introducing ornate details. Colonial and Peranakan household utilitarian items feature precious tropical hardwoods. An eclectic collection doubles as an intimate event space for cocktails and private dinners. Guests can discover treasures of Peranakan heritage at the antique shop within the historic hotel. A tropical lush garden lies behind the row of houses as its backyard, creating a private oasis with greenery from its original gardens. GTHH serves as an information hub for Penang's cultural events.

Design and History

The terrace houses have been transformed into spacious suites, with two suites in each shophouse. The design reflects minimalist clean lines amidst the lushness of an oasis in the city. The hotel features 19th-century architecture integral to Penang's history. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the street art and murals on the sides of the buildings and along stretches of walls near the hotel.
“Muntri Grove stands out for its heritage charm in the heart of George Town, a serene escape with lush gardens amidst the city bustle. I particularly appreciate the blend of Peranakan aesthetics and modern comforts, making it more than just a stay but a cultural experience. The combination of tranquil garden settings and proximity to historical sites offers a unique balance for exploring Penang.”
