The Breakwater Inn offers 23 rooms overlooking Pamlico Sound. Rooms are located in the older Fisherman's Quarters that are quite rustic. All rooms have water-view decks and include microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. Deluxe Rooms feature kitchenettes with microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and wet bars. Suites feature wooden balconies or patios with Adirondack chairs facing the marina. Suites with kitchenettes and hot tubs are available. Bathrooms across the board have shower/tub combos or showers and basic toiletries. Air conditioning, are also on supply.
Dining at Breakwater
A free continental breakfast is served every morning in the office/lobby. Water is also available throughout the day. Beside the hotel is the Breakwater Restaurant, a seafood eatery under the same ownership.
Leisure Facilities
The property has an outdoor pool with an attached shallow section for kids. The pool is surrounded by a white fence for privacy and includes a wooden deck lined with white plastic loungers and rocking chairs. Guests can observe fishing vessels coming and going. Benches and Adirondack chairs are found in outdoor hallways.

The Breakwater Inn is at the heart of Hatteras Village, at the southernmost tip of Hatteras Island, on the two-lane Highway 12. Burrus Market is a minute drive or five-minute walk. Rooms on the top floor apparently have outstanding port views. While some furnishings could use an update, the location and helpful staff definitely stand out.”
